Starting 350 Chevy project. Input needed

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Whats up guys. Just got signed up for the forum today. It seems like there are alot of knowledgable people on here!! Iam buying a 92 240 with an automatic trans. this coming up week. I am also picking up a carbed 350 4 bolt main from a buddy at the same time. I wanted to originally do a swap in a rx7 but this car fell into my lap for next to nothing. I see that Hansen makes swap kits for a hefty fee. What are you guys using to do the swap are there other practical, hopefully cheaper alternatives out there? Also after I souce a trans. with torque converter up, what else am I looking at for the swap? Im sure a bigger size radiator with electric fan is required for the larger size motor. I know on the rx7's the stock rear end would work fine for this application, is the same true on the 240s? Thaks for the input guys any help is really appreciated!!!

Welcome to NICO, the 240SX rear end is actually a lot beefier than the RX7's, or the first gens at elast, you didn't specify what year RX7

as for "kits" I was unaware fo a kit, I though all the S13/14 v8 guys just fabbed mounts, read through some othe rposts and oyu'll see some other peoples work, I must say the LT1 looks pretty good in the S13 engine bay

350 Carbed 4 bolt main350 Turbo trans. with 3600 Stall (freshly rebuilt) My buddy had it in his 2jz Lexus that he is rebuilding.and of course 92' 240 automatic.

Everything so far is less than a grand. ALOT less actually. Going to get a rebuild kit for the motor before its installed, it ran when they pulled it but still going to rebuild ne ways.

There's a tech at the Ford Dealership in Radcliff by the name of Brock that will probably do it for you at the right price. If nothing else, he can point you in the right direction and at least help you get started, but he doesn't work for free. Tell him Chris sent you.

But, I think he might be injured at the moment and might not be in to work this week.

Couple of quick things...

- An aftermarket 240 radiator will work fine- Front sump oil pan will be necessary- For mounts, just find some hot rod mounts or stock mounts and make an adapter to mount to the subframe (see what LS1 guys are doing)- Subframe will probably need to be notched to clear the oil pan- Driver side header will most likely be a huge pain in the ar$e due to the steering shaft
