I love it when it runs nice, but lately it seems like everything is going wrong. Today i was driving home from school and as i got close to my house my car started backfiring. I pulled onto my street which is a pretty steep hill and my car could barely make it up. It was just barely moving and it sounded really strange. As i pulled into my driveway i noticed some smoke rising from under the driver side of the hood. Popped the hood and there was smoke coming from my exhaust manifold/valve cover area. Not exactly sure where the source was. Does anyone know what could cause this?

no i dont remember what color the smoke was. Do you think that this is a headgasket issue? I had my car in for a tune up and my mechanic checked compression and said it was 180 on all 4 cylinders.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like your engine just croaked.

And yes they can go just all at once. Could be head gasket and I would check for that but I am not holding my breath.

Give the car a real good lookover and see if you can find anything unusual. Then I would pull the valve cover and see what I could find out there.

Hopefully it is only a head gasket or a seized berring and the block is still in good shap for rebuilding.

Good luck and let us know what you find.
