I used to post on here awhile back with my rb20 swapped 89 HB...i sold that for a big profit and bought a 84 300zx turbo and modded that out and it dynoed at 438rwhp and 474 ft/lbs of torque and just sold that because it ran out of fun.....while i had the 300zx i drifted away from nicoclub but i am now back and am goin to be buying a 93 coupe and am doin a KA-t build...not insane HP numbers but 300whp daily driver that is reliable is all im looking for.....i researched about KA-t Setups for awhile now and have my setup im goin with....

what i would liek to know is if you were in my place what would u do for a setup for my HP goals??

Ive been looking at the IAP stage 1+ kit but i cant justify paying that much for it.... So i was thinking on gettin the JGS precision turbo starter kit and making my own intercooler piping for starters then upgrading injectors and a Enthalpy tuned ECU later on....along with a nice set of coilovers...i would like to keep my build well under 5k.....

What do you think??

If you don't plan on opening the engine to build it, $5k is plenty to get 300whp outta the stock KA.. I'd skip on the IAP kit, and go for the JGS or build your own... There's plenty of info on how, and where to buy all the parts you need.

IAP kit I have I love.No hassles and all you'll need to make your car work is injectors, enthalpy and clutch to hold the power. The turbo he gets are good to 22psi. You'll need around 13psi to get your #'s.My next ka-t build is going to consist of:revhard manit3 super 60 or t3/t4 usedebay fmictial wastegateand then eveyrhting else get as I go along like oil lines and mafs etc.Another thign you'll need to have for the 300rwhp mark is a better mafs.

for my 300whp goal would i be better buying everthing together like the JSG kit? or would i be better off buying everything separately?? the problems i dont want to have is if i buy a garrett turbo, i wont be able to find a downpipe that will fit off of it....i dont want to get one welded up...id like to buy bolt on parts to achieve my goal...the intercooler and piping im goin to be buying off ebay, and the oil lines im making myself, but the turbo, manifold, and downpipe are the main things i dont want to have problems with.....any suggestions on a manifold that isnt like 700 bucks?? Im thinkin about a Garrett t3/to4e 60 trim 63 AR and a tial wastegate....

and about fuel management im goin to be running some deatchworks 555cc side feeds and Z32 Maf....all managed by an enthalpy tuned ECU...but thats after i have the whole turbo system running good at about 6 psi or so....

If you want to bolt everything together then you really are better off getting a IAP kit rather then piecing different stuff together. There are a lot of different KAT manifolds that have different angles and locations. So a generic IC piping of of Ebay may or may not bolt up to your turbo. The only other option is to buy seperate pieces and have a shop fabricate the piping up for you. A big PITA is to have a IC pipe blow off in the middle of the night and try to get it hooked back up without burning your hands!

i know about all the intercooler problems....i built everything from scratch on my 300zx turbo upgrade all intercooler stuff, downpipe, fuel management....so im intelligent when it comes to that stuff....but i dont have the time to work that much on cars anymore so i would like to have it more bolt on....i know the intercooler piping will have to be fabbed up if i get a generic ebay kit....

right now im lookin at the revhard manifold....for those of you who have used it, how did u like it and what downpipe did you find that bolted up to it nicely??

i suggest the jgs kit thing as i think i would probably go that route if i had to do it over. stick to ur fuel setup "plan" as that will be more than enough to support 300wrhp. only thing i can think of is to get an safc if your going to be running 6 psi before you get the enthalpy ecu as u will need something to control the injectors. last but not least, a wideband is your friend. i prefer zeitronix but im sure others will suggest other brands. just make sure it can datalog and your good to go.

im not using the larger injectors until i get the tuned ECU....ive tried using an SAFC and i dont like them at all...i dont like tricking the ECU.....im goin to use a walbro fuel pump for my extra fueling needs until i get bigger injectors....

and for my turbo...im gettin a t3/to4e for sure...i just dont know what specs i want....is there a big difference between one with a .50 trim .48AR and one with .50 trim .63 AR?? i know that the compressor housing is bigger....i know the .48 AR one is good to about 350whp which would be better matched to my HP goal but i would like to have some room to grow....i would like to hit 300whp on a lower boost setting too....

any suggestion??

When I had my setup running, I used the 57 trim with the .50AR, .63AR Housings. This was def a fun setup, but next time around I am gonna use the .48 hotside, so it spools faster.

i loved the .63AR. But, I want a turbo that spools fast so I can kick it sideways all the time, the .50 trim turbo's are good for about 350hp. I guess it just depends on your HP goals.
