I have a s13 with an sr20 in it that won't start. or even come close to starting....It just doesn't want to turn the motor. It's a good starter,(brand new and had it tested), and when it's hooked up just not bolted to the transmission, you can see that it works fine, so it's not my wiring.....

THIS CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR FOUR YEARS, 1 year with a blown motor, and three with an sr.... if anybody knows what I could do, I would reallyappreciate it...

Occasionally the starter pinion goes too far out when starting and misses the flywheel. You can to add washers to create more space to make the teeth catch the flywheel. Assuuming this is your problem.

did you line up the flywheels to make sure the teeth were the same...because i bought a aftermarket and it was totally wrong and the starter gear wasnt even touching the flywheel so i put the stock one back on

i would ask him....so the starter is making noises just no cranking the car? correct....bc either it is not touching the flywheel at all or like the other guy said going out too far......so i would try spacing it out first.....then ya may have to pull the flywheel and check if its right.....

Did the shop find a solution to this problem. I'm having the exact same problem, have 4 sr starters here that I've tried (all good starters) and it does the same with all of them.

I didn't get a chance to take it to the shop,,but I think it may have something to do with voltage.....cause I have a battery relocater kit and I guess the amps have to travel to far to get to the starter........when we hooked up sum jumper cables it started cranking,,,, so I mounted the battery in the engine bay, and it's a lil' stronger....but still doesn't work.

I'm might need a bigger battery...

I agree with the flywheel mis-alignment

so far thats the only thing that makes sense.
