I have a 1991 300zx 2x2. Has anyone replaced the starter? Is it a beast to do it? Any help with a diagram would be great. Long live the 300!!

Is this auto or manual? Either way it's a pretty easy swap.

That is about it but remeber to unplug the Battery. Also be carefull with the hot wire on the starter. It has a plastic molding over the wire that can easily be damaged and if you are not carefull can create a short. Good Luck.

Thanks, This is my first time working on this car. Had to put in a new clutch. What are the chances it is the cylinoid vs the Starter. Question 2, is it best to come underneath. I can put it on a lift? Thanks again.

Well first we have to know what the symptoms that it was giving you before we can give you a guess. A lift drastically helps with any work done to the Z. I changed out my starte on jack stands. Not too bad. Just make sure you get the correct starter though. TT starters wont work with 2+2 Z32s... There is a flywheel size difference.

I don't recall the eshaust being in the way on my TT, but a nubby 14mm end wrench makes things a lot easier

And washers work wonders. You can use a combination of various parts from NA's and TT's. With the starter it's just a matter of spacing.

This is very true. I am actually using my NA starter with NA transmission with my JDM TT motor. I just had to make modifications to the bellhousing and shimmy out the starter with washers just like you said. ITs no big deal, but I didn't want to get into it in my last post. At least this is one of the easy parts to work on, on this beast...

No..No..No... Those center glow panels are what I am famous for. I've been converting 300zx rear panels to glow for over 4 years now. I can make the panel glow any color you desire. Its my business. You can read all about them here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/439293/5
