in the process of a transmission swap. Before reinstalling the starter we are trying to see if it will work with our wiring job. We have wired up as much as we know to, but the starter refuses to turn with the ingnition. Also we wired the starter directly to the battery, and it would still not turn.

there is a sensor on the top of the starter, don't know what it does but we tried hooking it up and still nothing. Anyone know what our problem might be?

Sound like a bad starter if you tested it directly to battery.

must be a bad starter solenoid (engages the gear/plunger)

Thanks for reporting back what happened. Wish more people would do that.
