Before I start I want everyone to know, I did search and I have more questions that are not already answered.

First, I have had a problem where i had to turn the key several times before the starter would engage. I replaced the starter(Selinoid is new also) and it stopped. About a week ago,a month after new starter, it started that again. Yesterday, I was turning the key and when it finally started, the starter kept running. It is not engaged to the flywheel, it is just running. I had to dissconnect the battery. I reconnected the battery and disconnected the signal wire as Chris-the nissan tech- told someone else. It did not stop. I am wondering what the problem is and if the problem where I have to turn the key a bunch of times as anything to do with it?

it sounds as if your solonoid is fried or the main battery wire at the solonoid is touching the drive lead. [there are 2 studs sticking out of the solonoid one is the drive lead and the other is your battery cable poistive lead. if they make contact the result will be constant drive operation of the motor. The pinion wont engauge but the motor will constantly run.

Thats sound like it could be it. Any ideas on why I still have to turn the key many times before it starts?

Thanks

the solonoid is probably not enguaging. Or if its a manual you got a problem with either the clutch switch or the relay, if its an auto it may be the inhibit switch on the trans, my thought is the solonoid is faulty since you have a dual problem with it.
