if car isn't trying it's not likely the bat, could get it amp tested.
spark/fuel/air
fuel - turn key just shy of trying to start, should be able to hear pump (may not be used to trying to listen for it though; pumps in trunk, behind back seat in hatch), prime it this way 1-2 times then try to start see if that makes a difference. Can also check by pulling plugs, wouldn't start with that.
spark - pull plugs, check gap; try to turn over with plug pulled (being held or safely isolated electrically, bring a friend). If you haven't replaced the distrib cap n' internals they are cheap, and prob not a bad idea.
air - if the car's not knocking when it is running, not firing rich or lean and you don't hear a vacuum leak on turn off your probably all right here. Probably. You can pull the air box (bypassing the filter) temporarily in the garage or drive way and see if it makes any difference.
if any of the common consumables are getting on the old side or worn it wouldn't hurt to replace them (pcv/air filter/vacuum lines/distrib cap/distrib cap n' rotor/plugs/wires/fuel filter)
