I have a 89 240sx auto with the ka24e. The car fires right up most the time, sometimes it doesnt tho. When it wont start i hear a clicking noise. When its doing that i usually just try to start 5-6 times and eventually itll fire right up. Need help figuring out wheter its the starter or just the relay. Thanks all help apreciated.

Connections between the battery and the starter, check them, clean them, and replace any wiring that is heavily corroded. It could also be the ignition switch starting to show its age as well.(I've seen this happen to a fair number of 240's)

I second that.

I had this problem. I swapped out starters, solenoids, and it was still clicking. Turns out it was my POS West Co. battery. Now, I gotta a big a** 750CCA Duralast Gold in the trunk FTW. Check those cables too! Load test those cables.

Fast clicking means its a weak battery or corroded cables. a single click means the starter is not engaging.

^ lol I have a "Werker" battery....
