I just installed a new radio the other day, myself. I've never installed a car stereo, but I think I got most of it right, except one thing. I noticed when I turned off my car the antenna motor would make a whirring noise like it was drawing power even after the car was off. The antenna is broke and never goes up or down so it kept making noise.

Yesterday I drove my car to the taco joint and everything seemed normal. I came back out to start my car and when I twisted the key the motor wouldn't even crank. The wipers, my radio, my radar detector and everything else in the car would turn on, so I know it isn't a dead battery.

Did I somehow screw up my starter?

Are you serious about wacking it with a hammer? That doesn't sound like very sound advice. LOL.

I tried getting a jump from multiple people and it still won't turn over. I can start it by rolling and popping the clutch in 1st...

Any other advice?

Does the antenna motor ever shut off? I used to be an installer and there is a dedicated wire for power antenna. You can't just use any old + (or -?). The power has to be switched off after about 10 seconds. I'll bet you hooked a wrong wire to that circuit.

LOL.

Well the clutch safety interlock switch turns out to be the culprit. After hours of tearing out my hair I saw two pieces of black plastic sitting on my floorboard and wondered where they came from....

I feel stupid, but relieved. Thanks for the advice guys.
