OK, here's my story. almost a month ago, my starter was going out. For a few weeks, every now and then it wouldn't start the first time I turned the key, but always started after no more than a couple tries. then within a day or so it got to the point where I had to turn the key like 20 times to start it. so I ended up taking it to Pep Boys. I realize this was a bad move. I was going to try and do it myself, but I had to work the next day and didn't want to try doing it before work. pep boys said they could do it the same night. so anyways, they fix it and it works perfect for a few weeks, but recently this week, its been doing it again. when I turn the key nothing happens, I hear a noise coming from where the starter is, but its not really a clicking noise, its more of a 'motor trying to turn' noise. So I went back to pep boys yesterday and they test it and of course, it tests 'good'. so they try and tell me it could be something else, but have no idea what. after a while I convince them to agree to replace it again on sunday. they don't seem to know what they are doing there so I'm askin you guys what do you think it could be if it's not the starter?? it would make sense that it's a bad starter though and not the clutch relay switch or something because why did it work fine after they put in a new starter? if it was something else, putting in a new starter shouldn't have made any difference (this is what I had to explain to the guy). please don't flame cuz of the pep boys thing, I realize my stupidity but I just needed it done quick. Thanks for any info you guys can give

I had problems with mine and replaced it myself. It used to spin without catching the flywhell. The starter gear was worn and 240s are notoriouse for starter problems. It could be that your starter celinoid is not getting a good connection to the battery or the ground because your starter if given power should be able to turn the flywheel. There is 3 wires if i remember correctly. one coming from your battery to the seliniod. another from your celiniod to the ground and a third from your celiniod to the starter. Good luck figuring this one out.:(
