Starter problem?

i have a auto 91 240, it has been having rough starts lateley, bu just last night after starting the car a few times earlier in the evening, the car wont start. wont even crank. all i hear is a clicking sound coming from the relays in the engine. dash lights light up and everything, i dont think its the battery ive tried jumping the car and still dont get anything. i suspect a bad starter but i dont know much about cars. anybody have any suggestions? thanks in advance

Check all fuses, relays, etc. If that doesnt work...

Starter is dying..... try tapping it with a socket wrench. if it cranks after this... get a new/used starter

If this doesnt work, have your starter tested at autozone or whatever,

The rough starts may be something entirely different.

Could also be the shift interlock. Do an auto transmission diagnostic.... located here...

hey thanks alot man. was afraid that i wouldnt get answered since the sticky said this wasnt the place to post such a question...but nonetheless the car will be towed tommorrow and worked on over the weekend.

yep that was it. replaced the starter, and now it wokrs like a charm. seems to have cured the rough start as well. pain in the *** to get to the last bolt on the damn thing tho....thanks for the help
