starter problem

well today we were finishing up my install. put the ic pipes and maf and all vac lines. good. ok it turned on and idle a little high cuz the throttle plate has to be adjusted. no prob. shut it off then turned it on again and idled it for 5 min. fine. then i was puttin on my bnm shifter on and dropped the transmission about an inch and put on my exhaust. bolted up the transmission up and went to turn on the car and it fired up fine like before then died on its own. we were like umm ok. then went to start it again and all i got was a click, no cranking. wtf. i kept trying to get it to start and a lil bit of smoke came up from under the engine. wtf. then went to check and saw that my steel braided clutch line wasnt tighten all the way and leaked all the clutch oil. but not also that the SS line's plastic covering got melted. wtf. we tried tapping the starter with a screw driver and nothing.

is my starter shot? why did my SS clutch line get melted?. plz help
