starter problem?

i have a redtop sr and it wont start. it does this somtimes but this is the worst of all. all fuses are GOOD. battery is GOOD. we tryed to jump the car and it still wont start. all i get is a click... now somtimes the car takes about 10-15 seconds to really start it just goes er...errr.eeeerchhh....vrooom and its on. and the if i turn offf the car it doesnt start up but after a whil it does, but not this time...so any help would be appreciated and i mean anything theres gota be somthing and after i just saw how much a starter is for an sr $600!!! i really dont want to buy a new one.

drive to autozone or advanced and have them test your starter. (they will do it for free)

if it is the starter would one of an sr20de fit on it and work right? btw thanks karma completly forgot they did that there.

It definitely sounds like a starter/starter solenoid problem. The cheapest way to to take the starter out and get it rebuilt. Im sure you can find a machine shop that rebuilds alternators and starters that can do it for you. When I had mine rebuilt they did it for around 100 bucks
