It sounds like you bought a remanufactured starter. Sometimes they are crap right out of the box. Take it back to autozone or where ever you bought it and tell em its junk.

What however do you mean by ' i have put it 3 different times already'?

Im assuming that your battery is good, because if it clicks 500 times, then turns over, your battery shouldnt be the cause of your problems. That clicking sound is your starter solenoid activating, without your Bendix coming out to spin the flywheel.

Make sure you get a good charge on your battery however and try it again.

Definitely sounds like you got a bad starter. Just take it out, return it to where u bought it and tell them whats happening. If you buy a brand new one, 99.9 percent of the time you wont have any problems with it. Still though, make sure you dont get ripped on the starter you have now, get your cash out of it. Hope you got your receipt ^^.

This sounds pretty dumb but I had a problem with the starter on my friends car, starter went bad and we replaced it-then the replacement went bad-The culprit was a bent tooth on the flywheel. Not saying that this is your problem, but you might want to check it when the starter is out to replace it.
