Got a 1992 240sx se M/T. Couldn't get it to start so I replaced the starter.

Still wont start so I started checking all electrical.

I ohmed out the small B/Y going to the starterNo juice when I turn the key.

Traced the small B/Y wire back to the interlock relay.

*B/Y from starter to interlock relay OK*B/W from interlock relay thru ingnition switch back to fuse block OK

So the interlock relay must be the problem. Right

Well when I jumper the B/W and the B/Y together (bypassing the interlock relay)Engine starter clicks very fast and smoke rises off my negative battery terminal...

ohh one more thing I've heard people talking about the relay and they said it was green... Mine is blue with 2, 2pined plugs...

Somebody Help me out here please. This thing is driving me crazy. I don't want to screw things up worse than they already are...

You are on ohms with the key on???? If you are doing that, DONT. Use DC volts. Use the voltmeter to test.

The interlock relay is by the battery. It is shaped differently than other relays. It is flatter and larger.

Assuming you are using volts, no, not necessarily the interlock relay, could be interlock clutch switch on clutch pedal.

this is for 89-90 but the interlock relay is the same shape and location. between battery and wheel well.
