I am in the process of diagnosing but just wanted to see if anyones run into this.

On my KA 240Starter turned and started the car without issue, seemed a little weakStarter and transmission surface are clean so it's getting a good grounding seat.Starters self ground is intact and looks clean no frays or visual problems

Whats happening is when I plug the power cable for the car to the battery, and actually trigger the starter (clutch in, and start) the starter makes a single click and the battery terminal post starts smoking and the starter heats up so does the wiring to it.

I've been looking through the loom to see if i've got a crossed wire, missing ground, so forth.

Anyone had this problem? Im sure in a few hrs i'll figure it out, it's just a wiring issue, no biggy, i'll update when I find and repair it.

Solved.

There was a wire frayed and touching the starter power wire inside of the wiring loom I opened it up fixed the bad wire, separated the starter power wire from the loom and tucked it separately.

Issue resolved.
