Hi everyone.

Ok so I just got my twin cam motor installed and all the wiring finished but my car doesn't want to crank.I checked the voltage at the solenoid wire on the harness and it reads like 11.2 volts.

I also swapped starters as well already.

Anybody know what may be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Is your block grounded?

Is it a AT or MT ecu/harness

If it is check EL-12
B/Y wire

Yeah its a manual transmission.

Car is a '90 with a 93 motor and wiring harness. ECU says "EL" on it.

And what do you mean by block grounded? If you mean the motor then yes it is.

he means you need to ground the engine when you pulled your single cam out you should have noticed some wires than went from the engine block to the frame you need to look in your service manual to find out where they are its been awhile since i did my last pull if you cant find the locations on the internets via google machine or something i have a service manual i can maybe look it up for you and try to scan a copy of there locations or something later if i get a chance but you need to have it grounded for sure

Yeah if your talking about grounds for battery I have it setup from battery negative to chassis then from that point to the intake manifold.

You can either check continuity between starter housing/block and your negative terminal. Or check to see if you have 12v on the block cranking, which would mean its not grounded.

If all is ok there check your clutch switch and relay.

So your implieing that the starter might not be getting a good ground?

I was thinking about the clutch switch as well. Do you know where the relay is located?

ok im sorry to be honest i didnt read the whole post i kinda skimmed through it and when i saw that you didnt know what the guy ment about your engine being grounded ii just assumed that was your problem but it sounds like you took care of that so your best bet is probably gonna be either your relay or the clutch your relay is located under the hood in your relay box its a black plastic box that you can pull the lid off of and i belive under the lid there should be a diagram tellin you witch relay's do what if you find that its not your problem than its your clutch witch is a pain in the a** to get to i had a switch go out for my brake light at the brake pedal it self and i ended up getting arressted twice before i spent what seemed like hours upside down trying to get to it soooooooo (fingers crossed) i hope thats not your issue if none of this works you can always climb under the car with a screw driver and cross the psitive and negative on your starter and makes sure it works that way just triple check thaat the car is in neutral so you dont run yourself over hope this helps let me know if you get it figured out or not
