is it possible for the starter to either be miss-aligned or not mesh with the flywheel. because I had my stater tested, and it tested bad, so I had it rebuilt, but when I have it in it just clicks alot, like a metal tapping metal click, not a relay/solenoid click. I'm gonna take it out again, and look at the teeth on it and the flywheel and see whats up.

from what I can tell, the starter is hitting the flywheel but might be binding? is there a spacer between the starter and the transmission? can someone snap a pic of there setup and post it so I can see, that would be appreciated.

I'm just a working starter away from driving my car, anyone have any ideas besides trying a new starter? I've got one for a FWD on the way, because my rebuild tested with poor current flow.

If the starter just clicks something is wrong with it. It should throw the gear out and spin. Is this the same starter you gave them or a different one and yours was given over as a core? There is no spacer.

it's the same starter I had a shop rebuild it, I'm gonna take it back to them and either get it fixed or my money back.

if the system was weak it could still throw the gear out but not have enough balls to turn it.

well, I have a new battery, but it's a Lawn tractor one(the small one) but still has almost 400 cranking amps, but I thhought that might be it, so I hooked up my batt. charger/starter and it didn't do anything either(at the batt. or the + post on the solenoid). so I hooked up my old batt. which has like 800 amps, and it did exactly the same thing, just clicked really loud like its hitting the flywheel, but not spinning, I'm gonna take it back to the rebuilder and make him, either do it again, or give me my money back.
