Alright; another wierd starter post!

My starter just spins when the battery is connected. I first thought someone had a vacum cleaner going due to the sound, but found it was coming from my car. I bought this starter about 3 months ago from autozone. When I insert the key and turn the ignition, nothing changes; the starter still spins, and I can not start my car.

This starter worked fine till now; it leave me to believe the starter is infact malfunctoning and I need to take it back; I just wanted to double chekc with ya'll before I did that (the guy at the autozone near me is a real SOB).~Nick

Yes, you are right, the starter is ****ed. Happened to me from autozone too - went through about 4 or 5 starters before getting one that works more than 2 weeks after the first one went out (which lasted 2 years amazingly).

You can basically explain to him the starter just spins but doesn't engage. If he keeps being an SOB, tell him u'll install it right infront of their store and and show them.

what is happening is the solenoid is stuck in the closed position in your starter which means there is constant power to the motor itself. this being so, there is probably an issue with the bendix (the gear that springs out to catch the flywheel) which is why you cant start the car by jumping the battery post. take it back and explain this to them. theres always that bad egg in remanufactured parts.
