starter issues... maybe

I had to get a new lower harness because the old one i had was missing all the transmission plugs... It turned over perfectly with that harness only it wasnt getting a spark. I got a new one for the transmission plugs and to see if that would fix the lack of spark. Instead the starter wont engage now. When i try to start it i get one click sometimes followed by all electrical just turning off or i get a lot of clicking but nothing turning. Sometimes i even get a moan. starter is good battery is good. i dont know what it could be

is the rapid clicking coming from the starter, or the relay?

so i just replaced the 12v cable from positive to the starter. still does it. also added one more ground. still does it.

where should i put the grounds and how many should i have? all the ground wires get hot as hell. why is that? it melted all the electrical tape around it
