The other day I had an issue when I went to start the truck -- the starter engages normally and then " Boggs" down as if the battery is weak. The starter engages normally .... then I get a slow "crank" "crank" and it starts. I have occasionally had this happen when the truck is hot and I go out to start it after in has been sitting only a short time. Sometime I shut it off before it starts and it always starts normally after that?

I do not get any strange grinding noise - so I do not believe it is an engagement problem with the flywheel.

It sound just like when the starter motor on my Lexus was pulling too many amps -- you can replace the contacts in the solenoid on the toyota starter motors.

Anyone have a similar situation ? Maybe a high compression situation -- not sure why that would be?

May be carbon build up causing higher compression, too advanced at start up or signs that the 1 battery is going out, 2 the starter is weakening, 3 the control of the starter is losing ampacity and 4 the system is dropping voltage all due to age, lack of maintenance and use. Time for an inspection and testing of the usual suspects in a starter system
