I own a 92 240SX Coupe with a transmission swap. It's been running awsome until today. This morning it started kinda weak, so i'm thinking, i got to get me a new battery. i took my daughter to school and came back home and shut the car off while i install some tweeters. I went to starter her up and it dragged on to start and then it didn't want to start no more. I' m getting voltage from my battery to the starter and i also used my truck to give that extra boost to the battery. It click 2 times and then it stopped. I hit the starter a couple of times and it started to turn over, even without depressing the clutch..Can someone help me with a good idea

I had the same problem. When I tapped on the starter with a small hammer it would start up. I replaced the starter and that fixed it. I have 2 Nissans and have had the same problem on both. OEM starters suck. Replaced with better after market starter.

Your starter has some bad spots on the contacts. When you hit the starter it moves the contacts a bit allowing it to work temporarily.

New starter should do it.
