I posted a note about this and due to information I got today i thought I should pass this onto all,,,just incase it happens to you.

Today I got a call to come over to see my car in the workshop.New starter was installed and all seems Okay but we don't know if the problem still exists. My local Nissan dealer say they have seen starters burn up on a 240sx before and after a lot of tracing they solved the problem by changing the ignition switch and the Park/Neutral switch as my car is an automatic.

Nissan say its highly unlikely my problem was through the CD deck but anything is possible.

I have ordered both parts and its a 4 hr shop installation.Parts are $275 & $75.

I also put fire insurance on the car today BUT don't want to have to make a claim.Cheers from Eastern Canada

if Nissan did find out what the cause of your problem was then shouldnt that be a safety recall? They should fix it for free.

My car is not at the Nissan shop its in another shop and it was the two mechanics talking to each other.

I also did email Nissan Canada in Ontario and they only sent back a reply saying, they advise I take it into their dealer for a check over. (Sales pitch) Corporate underwear!

Meanwhile the Nissan mech says unless they can catch the event as it happens there is no way they could trace why it happens, they only know from their past experience of changing the Two parts the problem was solved for the last guy.

To ask them to say they have a problem with the 240sx, would be like asking a snowball surviving in hell.

Anyone else has similar starter problem????Cheers.
