I am looking at getting myself one of these wonderful cars, and was wondering what would be an acceptable amount of miles for the car to have. I want it for a project, but would also still be able to drive and enjoy it while I am working on it. Do these motors last for quite a while? Any info you guys could give me would be apprectiated.

Ok first off lol if you think you can have a project and your DD be the same car people try and it hardly ever works not that is doesn't sometimes, but really I wouldn't count on it. Answering your other questions "these" motors do last a pretty long time if they have been kept up right. Acceptable miles cannot be really answered accurately without a year to put the miles to, but for a Z32 I have found anywhere from a 100,000-200,000 but I would go over 120,000 to be on the same side, but that is here. There a slim chances to even find a Z here let alone one in good shape, but this is just me speaking from my own experience.

EDIT!:

If you are turning 16 or if this is your first car DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT GET A TT you will kill yourself with how much power it has and being young and feeling like you are superman in a car is the right way to go to get yourself killed. Right now just get a N/A it has enough power to keep you happy, but not enough to kill yourself. AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL WE WOULDN'T WANT YOU TO HURT YOU Z.

No this will not be my DD, and no I am not 16. I have been into cars for quite some time, and have driven my share of high performance cars. With that being said the cars have always been family or friends, never my own. I want a fast car that will beat the crap out of my brother's 06 Charger R/T.

if you need more room to carry stuff i recomend a 300ZX 2+2 if you can find one, and you can carry two more people in one of the smallest seats i have ever seen which is hillarious if you have tall freinds. thats my 2cents plus they look better in my opinion

I guess it is my fault for not being more specific. I am 22 and already have a car as a daily driver. I was into muscle cars for quite a long time, but now I just want to do something different. This car seems to be a pretty solid platform to work off of, especially since they are pretty powerful stock. What would be a good price for a TT?

Welcome to Nico! my car has 205k on it, there are a few here higher than mine, adn most are well below, the lower the miles, the less likely you are to ahve to replace parts, nothing lasts forever, a car with a good maintenance history would be preferred over milage

Nothing against you at all I am just saying that because there is always some 16 year old on the boards posting about wanting a Z TT and the entire time I am thinking that he is just going to kill himself so I am say that to everybody and it is nothing against you....moving on.

Z are good cars go for less miles and maybe you can even find a shell and just drop a new motor into and that would probably be your best idea.

What would be the average cost on a motor swap, and what is the difficulty compared to a muscle car? By the way, no offense take. I know how a lot of the younger guys can be... not that I am that old though....

Motor swap depends on a lot of things whether you want a built motor or just a used one. Also parts and labor.

If you do not know how to hook up a turbo then doing a TT would be hard, but an N/A would be easy. Depends on your level of expertise though. I would say you could try it, but have someone that lives near you that knows how to work on Zs' help you. I am not going to recommend anything though because I don't know how good you are with engines.

go here and this should answer most of the part price questions though:

my NA is all stock and it feels like it pushes just about the full 220..assuming you keep up with maintenances such as plugs (every 60k) hoses, oil changes, etc and run it on the higher octane fuel it requires..

If you buy a Z32 as a toy/project get a TT. NA's are not all that quick and don't have the potential of a TT. Also, I wouldn't recommend a 2+2 either as they are longer, bigger, heavier, and not as pleasing to look at. Clean low mile TT's pull a premium price wise so shop around and you'll find the right one. Buy a nicer car in the first place and save a ton in the long run.
