Hello All, I am back on my project of installing a KA24E in my Triumph. I started with a 240 motor, but needed the rear sump and switched to a Truck K24E.

I have a few questions that I hope can be answered here:

1. Is the cam the same in the truck / 240 KA24E ?

2. What is the smallest Alternator that will bolt to the mount?

3. What is the smallest starter that will fit? (model of nissan car?)

3. What is the minimum equipment to get the EFI working? I have the full set up and harnesess from the 240 SX that I gutted!

Thanks in advance....

3: I think all you need is MAFS, coolant temp, TPS, O2, and the CAS.

I can easily answer all of these questions since I swapped a KA24E into my 720 pickup many years back.

1) Yes, the KA24E cam has the exact same specs in all KA24E's which includes the '89-'91 240SX, Hardbody truck, & Stanza (Note: the Stanza cam has a slotted section at the rear to drive the distributor which the others don't have)2) The smallest alt that fits is the 60A version that comes on the Hardbody trucks as I recall. The later model Frontier uses an alt that is exactly the same but is 70A, and the 240SX's use one that is physically the same size but has the upper mounting ear rotated slightly towards the engine and is 80A (that is the one that actually fits best on the Hardbody brackets and that pulls the alt body in closest to the engine block).3) If you are using a truck version KA24E block, then the smallest starter that fits is the newer one used on the Frontier DE engine, but if you have a 240SX KA24E then you have to use the starter that comes on the '89-'90 240SX since it actually mounts up to the engine block itself (the truck versions blocks don't have a block that the starter mounts to, but rather they bolt directly to the transmission bellhousing).4) You can eliminate the EGR system, AIV control system, and the SCV system, but the TPS, ETS, CAS, MAF, AAC, EGS, Air regulator, & Press Regulator will have to all be kept intact.

If you send me an email address I will send you a marked-up wiring diagram of the '89-'90 240SX engine harness that shows all connections you need to make on the stand-alone 240SX harness. I created it for use in my 720 conversion, but it will work for conversion in ANY vehicle!!
