Ok so i noticed about 3 days ago when I went and took some fresh pics of the ride (posted on my car domain btw) That upon restart a steady stream of grayish/white smoke was coming out the exhaust, puffed when I drove away and then went away. Yesterday while descending a 2 mile hill with stop lights i noticed it billowing smoke shifting into second and also accelerating through first and second. Did an oil change last night switching from 5w30 to 10w30, so Today I drove from home to Hollywood and back (About 64miles) and it was smoking after idling at stop lights through first and second gear, but not at idle, you could smell the oil though.

"BARE WITH ME"

So I went out (suspecting bad rings or valve/valve seal) and rented a compression tester and it wasn't good. 45-50-50-50  now I dont wanna scare myself because well let me explain. The rings are only a couple months old and she is my daily driver, but the car was running good, seems to me with compression that low the thing would stall out and run like crap but everything seemed normal while driving today aside from the smoke. When I had the motor rebuilt I took the head and got a valve job done and I haven't had a valve adjustment yet. Another important detail is I examined the inter-cooler pipe and there was gray oily sludge in there not a whole lot but it was wet (not running a catch) and I just replaced the PCV around the new year, also:

Cylinder #1 - 40-45psi
(Spark plug was white)
Cylinder #2 - 50psi
(Spark plug was white but had the same gray oily sludge the intake had on it)
Cylinder #3 - 50psi
(Spark plug was white)
Cylinder #4 - 50psi
(Spark plug was white)

So... :wtf2:
Bad rings? faulty pcv? Stuck valves/seals? Oil too thin? Oil passing though the intake?

Try pouring oil into cylinder and re-run compression test, if numbers go up then its the rings.

Did you break in the motor correctly?

What i mean to say is, very good work. Good Job, and I like your style. I'd respond much the same, quite often. And I really do applaud you for trying to help. That's what I've been trying to do as well. Kudos. :dblthumb:

Hey well while that diagram is really cool It dont help much the #2 spark plug has greyish sludge on i, I have a bad valve stem seal being the cause of my smoking issue, This I am assuming but the characteristics match. During the compression test I did do the cap of oil down the cylinder but it didn't make a difference 45-50-50-50... Break in? Well most people I know that rebuild motors etc say the breaking just isnt necessary, how do you properly break in a motor?

well..to break in a motor..you must first start at the build..when ho9ning on the final step its important to leave 45 degree cross hatch type pattern on the cylinder wall..what this does..is slightly spin the rings to help them seat properly in a uniform way...its allso important to use only regular oil not (sythetics or blends) as the synthetic oils penetrate the motor making ring seat next to impossible...normal break in should be (depending on ring mfg.) anywhere from 1500miles to 2k miles of Regular driving.....im allso suprised your machine shop that did your valves didnot allso do the valve seals..thats a shure sighn of a bad shop IMO...hope this helps some..good luck

Thanks everybody, issue still isnt resolved but I have narrowed it down to a bad valve stem seal for sure. I have the parts but is not an easy job and the head can not come off again because the machine shop says they cant mill it again :tisk: So... Ill be doing it in the car, luckily it the #2 cylinder. Thing wasnt smoking @ all for a while I was only driving it maybe once a week @ the time, but now its back to puffing a little bluish smoke about idk every three to four stop signs or stoplights :bs:
