Ok well my friend just finished up hooking up all the wiring for his ka24e-t and we are in the process of getting it to at least turn over.

We hooked up all the sensors and have a good battery, and we try and turn the motor over by the key and we can tell the s tarter is clicking but it is not turning the motor.

We know it's a good starter because we got it tested at autozone and we also put in a known good starter also. And all it does is we hear the starter click and you can put your hand on it and it will still click but the motor won't turn over. The motor turns freely and easily by hand though.

The only weird thing with this is that he somehow lost his alternator and we don't have an alternator hooked up as of right now. Is there a ground or anything that would normally hook to the alternator that would cause the car to not crank? But the fuel pump primes the battery is great and the started sounds like it engages but won't turn the motor. The starter just clicks.

We also replaced a blown alternator fuse and it still does the same. We checked all fuses and they all seem to be good.

The car also used to be an automatic but it's not the first time he's done a manual swap and he's sure he covered everything he did last time as far as the manual swap goes.

We know the motor isn't seized because it turns freely by hand.

Does anyone have any ideas? Do you NEED the alternator hooked up in order to crank the motor?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, When I was hooking up the wires after swap, I hooked the alternator plug wrong into another plug on engine harness.Guess what? It had the same issue.I recommend you look at another 240 and take note of where the plugs are supposed to go into. Most are mated to a single plug that has the same type, but alternator has another plug that is similar.
