All of the '08 models have a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for the fuel pump. I have read this over and over. If anyone has bought an '08 Versa take it in to the dealership and have them replace the fuel pump. Its going to go out on you and fuel delivery in your car will not be sufficient enough to start...hence cranking for a very long time. Once the fuel pump goes you have no pressure whatsoever in your fuel lines. Make sure you tell them about the TSB, so that way they can warranty that item.

You are welcome everyone!!

I took my 08 Versa SL CVT back in to the dealership on Friday after they called and said the fuel pressure regulator repair kit had arrived at their dealership. After about 1.5 hours, the car was ready. Other than a VERY strong fuel smell for the first couple of days, the car now starts as it should and everything is back to normal.

Going in tomorrow for #3. As in the THIRD time with the same issue. Second one within a month. Not sure if I just got bad luck with my Versa but I am dumping it before the warranty runs out. My mom's 94 pathfinder runs like a champ and I am on my 3rd major mechanical problem with a brand new car I've owned 11 months. Sheesh.

After nearly a year of owning the car, my SL has started doing this again. It had done it for a week or so when I first purchased it, but stopped before the dealer could see it. I guess it's dealer time, again. Well, at least I can get them to re-stick my dead pedal while they're at it, as it came completely off it's spot...

Just bought mine two days ago and brought it back today for this issue. The part will be in on Monday, so I'll have the service done then. I'm not sweating it though, EVERY car has quirks and this seems to be one of them -could be much worse.
