start up problem

so my car ran seemingly fine before but i let it sit for about 2-3 months while i was away and now it doesnt start. i had just under a 1/2 tank of gas in it which was probably a bad idea and the cold weather doesnt help. what do you smart people out there think i should do?

doesnt start as in? doesnt crank? cranks but wont start? cranks and then back fires? more info
