Start up problem

Just turned 16 a couple of weeks ago and got my dads car Manual 91 240sx se Hatchback. Cant drive it because im failing a class. Its been sitting there for a bout two weeks started it up once a week to make sure it was running, both times it took awhile to start once it did it shooked a lot had to keep it pass 2500 rpm to stop shaking for like a minute. Also I hear a clicking noise near the fan. Whats wrong? Thanks

i'll bet that it's your alternator. but that's just my .02 cents. that sounds significantly like what happened with me, and i have the same car. 91 s13 se fastback.

that clicking could be timing chain. search for that on this website.

put your hand on the front of the valve cover, and see if you can feel the clicking there, if you do thats timing chain problems

Bump yup I feel a clicking so ill proably read the thread on time chain. By the way were is the timing chain. Thanks

right in the very front of the valve cover. between the oil cap and the front.

your upper timing chain guide might be broken, if it is just take it out. it is not needed

check your compression, mine shook really bad on start up one day and turns out i had two bent valves. hope it's not as it's a lot of work.
