start up problem. need help asap!!!

i just bought a 1991 240sx hatch. the ignition is hanging out of the steering column so u can turn it on with any key but it was starting up fine the first couple days. since i had the doors open for long periods of time while i was working the battery died. ireplaced the battery with a used one and now the car stalls wen it starts. is it the battery cuz it was working fine in the other s-13 i had it in?
