Start-up noises

I do not know if it is merely coincidence but after switching to Mobil1 15/50, (I am not sure what was used previously), my engine has developed an intermittent rasping noise at start up, it lasts for about three minutes. I have removed the upper chain guide as suggested on some forums but this has not helped. From my searching it appears that stange noises at start up are not uncommon with red tops but I was wondering if my choice of oil is a factor. The engine came from a clip with supposedly 77,000km. It is performing beautifully otherwise.

Hi, I have the same problem, I just started my motor and i have a wierd tapping noise coming from under valve and im using Moble FUlly syn. 5w 30 Did you ever got yours fixed if so hit me back or email me at [email protected] thanks man

Same here with Mobile 15-50, but mine only last a few seconds at start up... go figure.

im getting a noise at startup too.a whining sound,like my fan is rubbing or sumthin.im using mobil 1 10w30.i never thought it was my choice of oil though.
