whining noise seems to be coming for the timing cover area, and im guessing this is not normal. Any opinions? video link below

have you recently replaced the timing belt. It sounds like it is too tight, or you have a idler or tensioner bearing going bad.

+1 sounds like a idler or tensioner

when i replaced my belt and pulleys it sounded the exact same. i had the belt to tight. just loosen it a little and the sound should be gone.

awesome, yeah i just replaced the timing belt. ill loosen it. How tight should it be, the fsm doesn’t say and before people have told me to just follow the FSM picture and have the hex tool hole on the tensioned pulley in the bottom most position. and when i went to look back at the pictures i took after the installation of the belt hole was not at the bottom it was in a slight bottom right position.

thing is last time i took off the cover to do a visual inspection of the belt to see if it was to tight, i could not get the lower cover off with the crank pulley on. Do you guys have to remove the crank pulley to do this.

also, how safe is it to drive with the belt to tight, ive been on one test drive so far and thats it.

I cant tell you how tight the belt should be. Ive done tons of timing belts and its all by feel. I would say to back it off a little bit to what the picture is. Ive never done it by following the picture so i dont know if it is right or not. You might be able to loosen all the bolts on the lower cover and then pry it out a little bit I would just take the harmonic balacner off. It will be a **** ton easier. If the belt is to tight then you can damange your front seals.

DO NOT DRIVE IT

lol, trust me you don't want that ****er to snap, loose it up. Follow the FSM PER spec on how to tension it, your allen key hole should line up basically in the same spot as the picture. Then shes good to go.
