Hello people. I wanted to ask if someone can tell me which parts are vulnerable at the CA18det engine. Specifically, the ignition system.
A friend of mine can not start his 200sx and I am unfortunately too far away to check his electrical system.

He told me that he has fuel injection , and ignition..but the car wont start up..he tried it also with a start pilot spray..it wont work.

I think it must be a sensor, which delivers a false signal to the ecu. Hopefully someone can help me :). I post a pic of his car so that you see this nice car should cruise on the streets to represent the finest car - Nissan :).

Whats make me confused is, that the car ran before normally, a lil bit rich ..but it was alive...and after few weeks..he told me that it wont start anymore...He told me it was an act like a ignition interlock

Hopefully you can help me a lil bit with a list to check :)

Big thanks from austria to my favourite community for nissan enthusiasts

Hey man,

Sounds like a cam timing issue to me. Did he change the timing belt or something recently? Other than that, suspect the ecu or the ignitor if you have one (though I seriously doubt it's that). BTW, love Austria as it's a very beautiful country and enjoyed my visit in Vienna. :bigthumb: :dblthumb:

Could be flooded, it's quite common.

Yank the Fuel pump fuse out and crank it over for a few seconds, then put it back in and see if it fires up.

Try adding some fresh high octane fuel. Check fuel pressure. Check fuel filter for fuel flow restriction. Make sure you have a fully charged battery. Check fuses, ecu diagnostic trouble codes, and power/grounds. Check spark plugs for fouling.

Hey guys, I have also got the same problem ATM, everything is all fine, no faults on ecu, just changed ecu water temp sens but car will not fire on cold start, it's mega overfueling, I run a switch for the fuel pump to trick it into starting a few times bit now cba with it!! Any ideas as to what is making it overfuel when cold? Cheers

as basic as this is, check the plugs. i developed and air leak and the car began to run stupid rich. it fouled the plugs and the car wouldnt start. i changed my plugs (ngk bcp7es-11) and it fired right up. i drove the car (still had air leak) and it gradually began to run worse and worse, fouled plugs again. Wouldnt u know it, the car wouldnt start again. Once again, i swapped my plugs and it fired right up. I fixed my air leak (booster hose) and havnt had a prob since

Unless you have leaky injectors, I would check to make sure you water temperature sensor is making good contact from the connector. The water temperature sensor is the only sensor with the ability to make the CA flood consistently.
