Well here are some pictures of my build so far. Haven't got to spend to much time on it yet, but thats why its a project. The hood is only temporary. It has a carbon fiber one that came with it and I also have the silvia center headlight piece as well. The fenders are new and overall condition of the body as far as dents and dings go is minimal. Won't have to do to much prep really. Gonna paint in the both in our garage at my house.

The trunk is off another car, but they primed it and everything but the paint still came off. Atleast its primed.

Wiring is rather sloppy, but I plan to clean it all up and keep it as hidden as possible.

Ugh! Brown interior. I ripped the carpet out like the first day cause it was just nasty. Its all good. Going black dash and black front carpet and gonna paint the back half due to another inspiring thread that looked so clean. Only plan to have dash, seats, carpet, and door panels.

Another Ugh! Auto. But hey being in automotive school I get full credit for auto to manual swap. Score!

Cluster

Reason for SR swap....lol

I got the stock engine ready to be pulled out hopefully next week if I can find the time. I got a SR Redtop from my old roommate for $500. I already have purchased for it Eagle Rods ($200), CP Pistons ($350), and Nismo Engine Mounts ($129). Its slowly coming along and I will continue to post pictures as I make more progress.

Well I paid $1500. The body is in good condition. The only major dent is the one pictured behind the drivers door. The engine I already planned the SR swap and I got a good deal on the SR anyway. The interior, I am not to big into luxury I like the race look, thats just clean. My last car was a turbo'd cavalier z24 fwd. So this is a whole new ball game for me. I enjoy fixing them up and this being how it is will allow me to do it how I want. It came with the new fenders and headlight brackets, the silvia center piece and headlights and the cf hood. With what most people pay for conversions nowadays anyway its not too bad.

The SR is in good condition. The only real problem is the cylinder had has some surface cracks in the combustion chamber. So far I have gotten everything on ebay. And yes it was $129 with free shipping NEW. lol I search for deals high and low. I like name brand stuff, but typically hate paying name brand prices lol. I think the wrong hood and different colors along with all the extras in the interior really make it looks worse then it really is.

Yup I picked it up about a mile from my university. Hoping to get the old engine pulled next week and start cleaning out the interior (removing black "tar") and pressure wash engine bay.

Well I had some excellent weather today so I grabbed some dry ice and removed all the sound deadening material. I just have to do the front on both sides where your feet would be. I forgot a hammer so I found a nice brick to use...I felt almost like a caveman, but hey the dry ice makes is so easy that even a cave man can do it. I will snap some pictures that start of next week to show the progress. I also have the old engine ready to be pulled out. Just need to get it in our shop and unbolt it. I finally received my SR block too now so that will be getting worked on this week as well and I will post some pictures of the progress as that as well.

You put the dry ice on the sound deadening material and it makes the material almost like a solid plastic that easily just chips off rather than dealing with it being all gooey like gum. I got 9 lbs. of it and I removed all the material from the rear to the front where the drive and passenger feet would be in about an hour. I could have probably finished, but my last cubes were going quick since it was like 80 out and my back was killing me.

Well here are some shots of the block. I need to get to the store to get a socket to remove the crankshaft pulley. I glass beaded the upper oil pan and it looks brand new. I don't have any interior pictures at the time because I forgot my keys that day.... . lol. Hopefully I will have time Thursday to work on it some more.

Update: More progress done. Well I was finally able to get the car back to my amazing shop. I got the old blown engine pulled, the sr20 sent to the machine shop, and continued on the interior removing the deadening material getting it ready to apply rubber under coat. Also got some of the stock parts cleaned up and I think they look pretty good considering they aren't even painted.

Wasn't planning on it. Not really a fan of the pop ups. The conversion was mainly why I choose this 240 over others in the area.
