It wasn't what I expected in some ways, was exactly what I expected in other ways, and isn't worth a monthly fee in my view. The ship customization was way over-hyped. It's not very deep at all. And it doesn't really make sense, as far as trek canon.

I like how "active" combat is. Using cover/LOS/shields. Much more participatory and dynamic than, say, WoW. Ship combat is fun, too, but slightly clunky. The interface needs to be better integrated with the keyboard. Clicking on buttons for attacks isn't exactly efficient.

Just like Champions, I find it fun, but can't justify paying the monthly fee.

Yep...still waiting for a decent MMO to fork my money over for. Currently I'm playing runes of magic for free (55w/55k) and doing pretty well...was part of a couple server firsts. My gf and I are patiently waiting for Stargate Worlds...I just hope they get it right

I don't know if SG:W will ever come out. What with the developer problems and junk like that.

Anyways, back to ST:O

Cryptic only offers a lifetime sub if you invest before the game goes live. That's such a joke IMO. It's a huge investment in a game that could potentially flop. There were a lot of upset people when that happened to Hellgate: London, and the attitude carried into Champions Online since Bill Roper was heading both projects.

Yeah, that's the stupidest thing ever. If I'm EVER going to buy a lifetime subscription to something, it'll be AFTER I've had a chance to see if it's worth it and has a solid future. The fact that they stop selling lifetime subs the day the game launches makes me wonder about their mental competence.

On the subject of Hellgate, HanbitSoft will be reopening the US servers some time this year. No word on what that means for Founders' Club members yet.

Coming from a big Star Trek fan, Champions Online is MUCH BETTER!
