Oh. My. God.
There are few times I am left speechless, and I have to say that I was rendered so after learning of this. Chris Roberts, the mind behind classics like
Wing Commander and
Freelancer is making a new PC only space sim. It sounds to be on the scope and scale of EVE, but with a more tactical level than a strategic level of involvement.

The level of detail is beyond impressive and I like a lot of the ideas behind listed to give the player multiple options and pathways to play the game. However, I agree with Richard Cobbert from RPS that it's very possible some of the ideas may fall through the aptly titled Molyneux Gap. Although, I wouldn't mind if that stuff came out as later updates to the game.
It's being crowd sourced right now to prove to investors that people will pay for a PC-centric space sim. With the revival of X COM and now this, I'm very happy to see that the market is finally realizing that there are great ideas and IPs out there beyond Call of Battlefield 12.
