Hi all,

Bought a 2013 rogue about two months ago for an awesome deal. Went to the spare tire area and found standing water (about an inch deep) in there. Contacted the dealer and they say it is "normal" is this correct? Never had a car with water in it like that. Any of yours do this?

That is not normal. Is any other part of the trunk damp or wet? Check the seals around the trunk opening.

Yes, that is normal if........ you (or the previous owner if you bought the car pre-owned and dealer didn't check the spare tire bay) had a flat tire once and used the spare tire in the rain or wet condition then put it back in the spare tire bay without drying it.

This is what my buddy had on his Rogue as well. He bought it pre-owned and the dealer didn't even check the spare tire. Salesman said that that it just came in the day before and went straight to the lot. Turned out that the spare tire was changed to full size and was last usd during snow season. You know the rest..... :chuckle:

Another opinion:

My Rogue got rear ended two times and now it is leaking water whenever it rains. It started to happen after the second accident, and I know the reason.

They removed the reverse lamp to paint the hatch and according to the Factory Service Manual, you have to replace the adhesive gasket when you remove the lamp assembly from the car (check the FSM, you will see a black cross over these two parts). Of course the idiots at the body shop remove the lamps and put them back. I am pretty sure they somehow tear the adhesive gasket. This summer I will RTV the lamp assembly.

There is another potential source for water leakage: the holes for the spoiler. However, I RTV'ed them last summer...

idk, i removed my tail lights and never reinstalled any gasket; and i dont leak. a lot of the things in the FSM are over-kill designed for service techs to ring the bill up; using nissan parts.

Here is the key word ImStricken. "You" removed it carefully, with your skilled hands and high IQ. I am pretty sure they just pull the lamp without even caring if a plastic clip holds the assembly or the adhesive seal is damaged...

No I bought this brand new, I've never hit or been hit in it, I didn't check the carfax since it was new. (think it had 70 miles when I got it) Should I ask for a carfax from the dealer? Could have it been damaged? I thought buying new it would be fine.

then check to make sure the few plugs are not missing. there are plugs in the trunk to be able to leak water out. if they are missing - water could be getting IN
