Whats goin on guys.

Ive always liked the Q45's since I was old enough to understand cars, if you have one bad thing to say about 'em (besides the resale value) ur an ignoramus.

Ive had my 1994 Q for less than 6 months but already ive done alot of body and mechanical work.(ie: p/s pump, custom muffler eliminator pipes, starter)Im tryin to make this car run and look mint(which is sure does).

Soon as I got it I flushed the radiator, engine, rear diff's, and of course the transmission.I never mind spendin extra 4 the extended life/ high mileage fluids.

I read the post on cleaning the MAF sensor, and did so with goog results. The Q runs idles like a champ now. U guys r genuses on this vehicle, i never wouldve known to do that.

I was wonderin what else I should know, Im really meticulous about these things.like what gas the Q runs best on; plus(89) or should I just stick with the premium(92)?n e suggestions on oil, anti freeze, ATF, s*** even brake pads if u think u have A theory..

anything I should know like that would be much appreciated.. I put alot of money into every aspect of this carI want to make it last and run good

n e advice Q45 techs?

You can ask the board any question and wait for the answer, OR you can find it yourself at your leisure by getting to know the Search function. There's an absolutely amazing amount of information in over 5 years of old threads.

Read the brief tutorial sticky at the top of the list and then find that flashing Search button.

Welcome to NICO! It's always great to find another owner who understands what a special car it is and is willing to treat it as such.

We've pretty much decided that the brand and type of oil is not nearly as important as how often you change it. In most cases, there are no real improvements over OEM-recommended fluids. Same with brake pads, although some prefer ceramic blends over OEM pads. The higher the octane, the better, as long as it doesn't contain ethanol - eats hoses and injectors in the Q45. The engine was designed to run on TRUE 93, something you can't even get anymore. Under mild driving conditions, 91 is suitable.

Short and sweet, read all of Q45tech's posts.

There is also a thread by AlabamaDan that is a summary.

As for what works best, trust me a lot have tried to save $10 here or $20 there, and in the end, finding the 1990 OEM quality parts is usually the best answer. Though not all the parts from Nissan/Infiniti are 1990 OEM anymore .

Also, if you find a part from an after market vendor and it's not more $$, it's almost always a lesser/cheaper made part and will perform as such.

When searching don't forget to look in both Infiniti General and Infiniti Online Mechanic.
