Standard antenna conversion questions,

I just searched for about an hour, so shut up.

I have a mast from a corolla that I wanted to use on my power antenna thats got a broken mast. People say just remove the nut and screw it down. When I go out to my car to do this, it sure doesnt look like it will work. What else do I need to get??
