Id try one from the Z32 first... its worth a shot!! You can always resell them with ease.

Get on some of the 300ZX forums and see if anyone has one used, cheap.. BE SURE to get one for the N/A 300ZX

My guess is it will work.

I thought the FMU on the 300ZX looks for the turbo. If it can't find it it basically runs the fuel mixture richer?

Take into account the weight of the J. Its a heavy car that needs to burn fuel to move as opposed to the Z which is lighter.

I dont see how that will make any difference..... Fuel maps are determined by load.... MAF voltage, TPS voltage, etc etc determines things.....

besides, if you advance the timing you can create more power...

i was thinking of picking up a 300zx fmu for a n/a. i will let you guys know how it works after i install it. aalso after talking with a dealer at my local infiniti/nissan we came to the conclusion that all engine components for maxima 3.0L and 300zx n/a are all the same part #s so technically we can use any performance mod parts for a 300zx n/a. im picking up a pulley set tomorrow off ebay. aswell

How can you operate an engine leaner than the 14.7AF the O2/ecu sets?Any leaner and the Nox goes thru the ceiling and the engine knocks to hell.

The ecu is preprogrammed to squeeke out every drop of fuel to minimize the taxes paid to government and yield the highest EPA sticker mileage under test conditions.

i know that the factory specs are optimized to the best of their abilities when the car was made in 1995. after all it is an Infiniti. i just want to go aftermarket and get the benefits of 10 more years of research into technology from when it was built.
