IS THERE A STANDALONE FOR THE RB20? POWERFC IS FOR RB25 AND HIGHER RIGHT PLUS IT DOESN'T WORK ON AMERICAN OCTANE. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

PowerFC will work on American gas...you can adjust fuel and timing curves to compensate. Besides, because of the different rating systems our gas is not much worse at all, maybe 2 points less.

Yeah...so I dont know :) They are made specifically for each application (I'd think there would be an RB20 application) and are loaded with base maps that are the same as what's in the stock computer so they are basically a plug it in and go thing...as long as you dont modify things too much you can plug it in, drive it down to the dyno and then tune it...very cool.

A really nice stand alone engine management I have seen is: Simple Digital Systems http://www.sdsefi.com They have a really nicely priced setup which you can get with coilpacks etc and it has a hand controller which can be programmed like a power FC but probably a little easier to use. They have done a couple turbo 240SX with good results.

Also check AEM they make a programmable standalone, but i'm not sure if they have it for the rb25det or rb20det. I hope so tho... newer technology than the powerfc.

Are these standalones plug in and go or are the wiring of these pretty hard?

Hmmm I am new at this so, what your saying is that these standalone systems will plug right into the engine harnesses of the rb25 right? Is it as easy as that? nothing else to wire up? If so then what would be one of the best units to get for the rb25 motor? Anyone have experiance with this?

i've had some bad experiences with an SDS system and a Honda F4-i engine. i don't know if it carries over at all, but i trust AEM

I would look into an E-manage. Its GReddy, so there is tons of support out ther for it (maybe not always the most helpful) and I am sure they would make one for the RB20. Its almost a standalone, but its still a hack. if you get the PC communicator and ignition and injhections harnesses, it can pretty much do anything.

just curious, if you HAVE to type in all caps because of work, how can your subject title be in lower case??

also remember using stand alone ,sometimes ac is not a option.also a smooth idle may not be in reach. the fcon comes with a harness for the rb and yo ucan use it with the factory ecu and harness to keep ac and a nice smooth idle.

THE BOARD WONT LET AN ALL CAP TITLE, TRY IT. IT AUTOMATICALLY CONVERTS IT TO LOWER CASE AT RANDOM.

I HAVE FOUND ONE AT UNIQUE AUTOSPORTS. ITS FOR THE RB20DET SPECIFICALLY, IT ALSO HAS A BUILT IN BOOST CONTROLLER.
