standalone ems

ok another question. i was wondering what are the pro's and cons about going the standalone route??? i was going to do that because the way my friend explained it at the time sounded about right. but im not sure why now. that and once i get the engine, me and a copuple of guys are going to put it in ourselves! and i know if i go the standalone route that wont be an option, cuz with the shop doing it it will be $5000, that sengine transmission, halteck, intercooler (greddy i believe), and installation. but yeah and they said its kinda high priced too.
