I'm currently running a 97.5 obd2 car w/ a 96 jwt ecu.

****s not working out. I have codes coming out of my ears.

jwt says they cannot remap 97 and later ecu's.

so my question is....what stand alone system can I run on my obd2 car? I simply need to control timing and injector pulses....

thanks for any input on this subject.

JWT = GAY (just my opinion)whatever they said about those OBDII CRAP

I am running fine with E-mange on my 2nd gen OBDII ALTIMA . they do control timing and injector pulsees.

trust me, e-manage works on OBDII system . espcailly thsoe ppl's said " 2nd gen can't be turbo because of the fuel system blah blah blah BS Bs bs BS BS BS ..." whatever . I proved them wrong and it works just fine.. believe it or not..up to u

This is what you should do with your OBDII alti, sell the JWT ecu, sell any boost control you have and get

The E-manage Profec E-01 (a boost controller and an E-mange programmer)ignition & injector Harness (so you can control ignition and injectors duty cycle)Pressure Sensor Harness ( so you wont have to worry about getting a new maf)

Here it will cost you around 1000 bucks, which is still half the price then the crappies stand alone

No, u dont' really need everything for the E-manage, all you need is the e-manage , and the ignition harness, u don't even need the injector harness. use the left over from the ignition . that would just get u around 400 bucks, just use ur friend laptop or if u have one that would be great.

You can get a decent stand alone for under $1k, Get the entry level Haltech, or look into the LinkPlus Standalone, thats what I use, and I love it. http://www.link-electro-usa.com

The thing that irritates me the most about stand-alone ECU's is that all the ones I have seen are speed-density/MAP instead of mass-airflow. You are essentially throwing away your most accurate meter as to engine fuel needs, particularly under normal part-throttle driving.

Are there any stand-alones that are MAF?

I know that ticks me off as well, however, if you go stand alone, you are probably looking at 400+ hp then the MAP becomes better then a MAF setup.

I always thought MAP > MAF

MAP is better in the sense that it is more flexible. A MAF must be calibrated for a given airflow, and of course, the correct MAF must be chosen to match the engine airflow goals. This means a standalaone company would have to have an entire catalog of MAF's to match what the buyer is trying to build. With MAP, you simply use fuel tables. Fuel tables are programmable so even the end user can move the ECU kit from one engine to the next by simply altering the tables.

Yes yes, I realize there is a lot more to this and I don't know everything. I am just trying to summarize. If anything is totally wrong, let me know, because I like to educate myself.
