Hi,

I'm looking into replacing my ancient electronics with a something from this century. I've been leaning towards Megasquirt because of price and the fact that there is someone down the road that tunes it, but I want to have as much info as possible before I spend a lot of money on something like this. I also don't want something that's just going to be a new headache, either.

For those of you who are using an aftermarket stand alone system, which system do you use? Are you happy with it?

Thanks,

Darian

I'm running an EM4-F. I love it . I've tuned other systems and NOTHING is easier to tune. NOTHING. I can go from a new install to a decently running setup, ready for fine tuning on the dyno in less than 30 min of street tuning, no laptop required.

It has it's pro's and con's, but makes it very easy to do your own tuning.

I still have my Haltech E8 and I am still scared of trying to install the thing when I get a motor in the car. It's so smart and I am not.

Then you can give your SDS to Dhen. I'm practicing being a liberal.

I also use the SDS systems. I've owned/installed EM-2F, I own a couple of EM-3Fs with upgrades and a couple of EM-4Fs with upgrades ranging from 3 (37.5psi) to 5 bar (60psi). Everything what Ryan says is correct. Very easy to install and can be tuned with the help of one of us from the forum and tuned correctly, you'll hate the stock harness and ecu crap. Even though you can get the AEM for cheap, your harness needs to be spot-on or you will have issues as well because the AEM connects to your stock harness and uses nissan sensors (that sucks). Just my $.47 on the subject.

Dee is correct on the stock sensor and harness mention. If they're not all in good shape, it can cause a lot of headaches. The SDS comes with all new sensors and harness.
