Just a thought on people's experiences. I currently have a KYB AGX + stech setup running at maximum dampening. These things suck, bouncy and just not adequate imho. Anyways, I intend to get something better. I was set on getting some stance coilovers even the GR+ three after many positive reviews.

Recently however I kind of got interested at other options. I know KONI as a brand, however, there is too few people running them, reviewing them and contrasting them to other shock+spring and coilover setups out there.

Everyone wants to be all so jdm tyte and to have shiny coilovers that lower their ground to scraping lows... but when it comes to actual results other than looking bling, few people actually do some real reviews...

So yes, if people could chime in.

Stance GR+ pro/GR+ three VS. Koni Yellow + Ground control/springs VS. Koni 28 series (these are apparently top notch top end from koni? How are they and do any people run them on the street as well or just track?).

Goal? Track, however I do street my car. I will never turn it into a track ONLY car, but I am building it up like so.

Do stiff rides bother me? Not really, my car is completely stripped + running kyb dampners at maximum settings 4/4 f, 8/8 rear. So that should give you an idea, that 'comfort' is something I'll want from my family car not my s13.

Control, responsivness, grip, reliability, quality, these are some key pros that I want.

Thigns I don't care about are jdm tyteness , bling , drifting, cushiony soft mushy rides, lack of responsivness, lack of grip, crappy ill blow kind of quality.

I was pissed when I had to help out a friend install koni's in his RSX. You have to gut out your old strut and stick the koni's into your old struts. Stupid design imo.

coilovers. i have the gr basics, they're too bouncy in the rear. any of the coilovers you listed are great, no personal experience in them though. No one i know has been dissatisfied in them. or rsr race springs with koni yellows. the drop isn't bad and the spring rates are pretty good, best for daily imo, but you're using it for track too so go coilovers.

go with the koni/ground control set up. you can get the koni's custom valved for the spring rate that you want to run.

That design is for the car. Mr2's are the same way. It's how the car is designed. You can make 'em be a full replacement I suppose but what's the big deal?

I've got the Koni and GC setup on my car. As of now I have the springs at 6.5 kg/mm front and 5kg/mm rear. I've tried MANY setups, and I really love this setup to death. I'm taking out the GC for Megans since I'm just selling them to a friend. In a few months, I'll just give Eibach a call and get new rates.

If you don't mind a little wheel- fender gap, then a spring strut combo is great.

The performance is AMAZING.

....And if that doesn't convince you...then maybe the LIFETIME warranty for Koni struts will, lol. A lot of guys that I knew that did E1 hillclimb swore by them that they were some of the best struts they used when they had them revalved. If they did blow them, they would set the rates to low, send them in, and get a new set in just a few days.

Take it from me...they are NOT hard to install if you have a little car and suspension knowhow. The only reason you don't hear about many people with Koni's is that people assume it's too hard, and just don't wish to put in the effort.

I still feel stuck... between the crowd. I am leaning more the koni way... but, I am curious if there are people who have lived both lives with stances and konis...

My biggest concern is really performance more than anything... More grip, more predictability, more response... and i am confident in koni's when it comes to durability and quality. Stances are pretty convincing too.

2" drop is the max I care about as well. I don't need a scraping bottom... plus too much of a drop and there is little to any stroke I would think... and more roll and bumpsteer if no adjustable LCAs...

Anyone with 28s? Even though they are race dampners, does anyone street them also?

Boznuttz, have you ran stances? What about 28s?

I kind of want a side to side comparison and experience... its like both camps have a fanbase but few who actually ran both and can share the experiences of how either were...

I really feel stuck otherwise... it's like, I don't have experience with either, thus all I'm stuck with is two fanbases, two camps to choose from and only find out by running both... which of course would be a waste of a double expenditure to only find out and say how they are for me...

Yes, I have driven on GRs as well. They were used, and I only had them for about three weeks or so. They did feel really solid as far as coils went, but once I broke in my Koni setup...I realized that there is no going back for me...unless I find a decent set of NEX, lol, but last tiem I checked, I don't have 2k lyign around for a sick 3 way adjustable setup.

Edit* haven't driven on 28s, but one of my biddies that tracked his E30 swore by them besides from his Bilstien budget.

Really?... Well maybe the GRs were blown or something since they were used? GRs basics? GR+, GR+ Pro, GR+ Three?

NEX also aren't those megan racing class coils? They have megan racing coilover pricetags from what ive seen, haven't heard much about them...

NEX:http://www.prostreetonline.com...s.asp

Rarely hear anything about this brand.. but ive seen ads for sale of them heh.

Still need more supporting evidence haha, but a custom koni setup seems to be the way. Could you have your friend chime in on the 28s? Anyone else?

From what I've read those megan lowering springs have one of the highest spring rates compared to most springs out there. LoL but it is megan afterall (what a bad reputation that everyone automatically just says that 'oh theyre megan parts' )
