I've got a some Stance GR coils on my S13 and I have to say I thought the ride would be a lot bumpier. Everything is fine except the right front makes a clanking noise over big dips or bumps. I took a look at it today and it seems the shock is leaking. Do you guys know if Stance will replace it or do I have to fix outta with my own money? Do you guys know how much it would run also to get it fixed?

Guess I'm outta luck then, LOL. They came with the car when I bought it so I don't know how old they are or if they're still under warranty. Do you guys know how much it's gonna cost to refurbish them?

Your best bet is to contact stance directly. Their customer service is great. Now, don't quote me on this... but last i'd heard you could just buy a new shock and swap your springs onto it for ~160-180

I do believe that in there coils "installation instructions" on the FAQ on back they did state that they will sell shock bodies seperately, however they did "Recommend" that you buy 2 since they are matched pairs and swap both fronts or both rears.

Are you positive the dampener is leaking? Does it at all sound like a clunking noise with a little bit of spring tension? I had a problem with my coils as soon as I installed them and stance fixed me right away. Mine were however brand new.

I called up Stance and the guy said that they do have replacement shocks in stock. $150 for a corner he said. As far as the dampener you can see some grease like fluid on it. When you rub it, it smears. My buddy said it was the shock that was making the noise. How did Stance fix you up? I've heard the send out replacements but like I said I'm not the original owner and I bet these aren't under warranty anymore. I'm gonna check it out this weekend though before I order a new one.

Well I would assume that just cause there is a little grease on the dampener doesn't mean they are leaking, I am however not an authority on the subject. I see a little lubrication on dampeners after they rebound from a compression, but again I don't know exactly what your seeing.

As far as my problem, I bought a set of AL+ and as soon as I installed them there was a "clunking" noise on the rear passenger side. After more closely listening you could hear a sort of spring noise with it to. I adjusted pretension on the spring both extremely tight and extremely loose and it didn't make a difference. I swapped spring rates (for other reasons as well) still to no avail. I also swapped sides to see if it followed the coil which it did. Having no clue what could be the problem, other than a faulty dampener, we called stance and they said that they had a bad run of about 20 coils produced that came with faulty pillowball mounts. They sent me out a pair of pillowballs (even though only one of my mounts was faulty). It didn't effect the ride at all, just a really annoying noise.

Not trying to take away from stance, I LOVE my coils (especially my original 12/9 springs, soooo fun to drive) But they also have great customer service, didn't question me at all. Couldn't be more pleased. As far as if your problem is actually a bad strut or not, I couldn't tell you if I didn't hear the noise exactly. It could just as well be a bent/leaking dampener as much as anything else.

I would try to get some more info before you set your heart on the strut being faulty. Give a few suspension mechanics a ride, see what they say. If you are up to the work, swap the sides see if it follows so you know its just not a rubbing or "other piece of suspension" issue. Make sure you have a decent amount of pretension on the springs, I believe they say 5mm or so. If you can talk to the original owner and see if it made it before and how long ago he bought them. I wouldn't try and get free stuff out of Stance, but I would be more comfortable ordering anything if I thought I knew exactly what the problem might be, instead of dropping 300 and finding out it wasnt the issue to begin with.
