ive had my GR+'s for 2 years now and i LOVE THEM, over the 2 years ive had to increase my dampening adjustment by 3 clicks, they still ride great, for coilovers, and i have NO regrets about buying them

i would get the gr+ pro but the only difference between gr+ and gr+ pro is the helping spring. its $150 more for the pro and i need to use the $150 to buy other stuff for the car. maby in the future i will add the helping spring to my gr+.

what about the ride height.......

my car, which i recently lowered a small bit more, sits even with the top of the tires(245/40/17) and there is still plenty of adjustment to lower it more

...............

lower than it is possible to drive your car at, you SHOULD NOT lower your car as low as the coilovers will go, you will ruin the suspension by changing the geometry that much, not to mention you wont be able to drive that low

and if that isnt a good enough answer for you 5 inches

Can someone tell me what the helper spring does? I've heard that it increases ride quality & comfort, but reduces how low you can go. Is this true?

helper spring allows the shock piston to be placed in the optimal position within the shock body and increasing rebound stroke and maximizing articulation on cars with minimum suspension travel. so that is what a helper spring dues.

So, why is it that I hear some ppl who get the GR+ Pro's end up removing the helper springs anyways? Any ideas?

Come on man...In what world would taking OUT a spring, makes harder to compress? Think about it, makes no sense at all...If anything it would make it softer.

not always the helper spring could be a softer spring than the main one meaning it actually absobs most of the feel from the road however i have gr+'s and my buddy has pros mine feel a little stiffer but my car has more suspension work as well...as far as ride height you will be able to go lower than you can drive your car for example i had the same question as you when i bought mine so i set my s14 to where a beer bottle cap would touch my oem mud flaps fyi i couldnt leave my driveway either.

Helper springs dont help with comfort, go look at your car when it is on the ground and try to see the springs, they are fully compressed when there is a load on them. They are for keeping preload on the springs when you jack up the car, or if your suspension travels to the point where you could risk the spring comming unseated.

They are too soft to change the ride comfort or anything like that.

Considering that includes shipping, I'd say you got the standard online price. I pity the fool that pays $1700 for these.

I'm gonna wait til Thanksgiving/Christmas when all the online vendors start slashing their prices like crazy. I've seen these sell for $1000 shipped during the holidays.
