I am in the market for a new set of coilovers (isn’t everybody). From what I have read, the stance coils have had great reviews. At the moment, I am stuck between the GR+ pros and the AL+s. I have had a very hard time finding any time of review on the AL+'s, but from what I can tell, the only difference is that shock body is alum vs. steel. I really have no idea if the valving is the same, or whatever else have you.

What I am trying to get at here is, has anyone driven with the AL+s or knows any information about them. Or if anyone knows of a good sub $1500 coilover (other than the KTS') I wouldn't mind hearing about those either. Thanks for giving this a read; I hope to hear some of your opinions on this.

Thanks,

Bryan

UPDATE:

For any of you that might care, I just recently installed a set of AL+ pros. I only have 150ish miles on them so they are still settling and what not, but my opinion of them is this. They seem to be a very street friendly coilover. They are firm, but not harsh, aka you won't be pissing blood after your ride to work. I am running 10 damp in the front and 7 in the rear for now, will see how they feel when the break in.

Two complaints I have. First, the damper adjustments for the front are not in the engine bay, they are on the bottom of the shock body. So in order to adjust them you have to crank the wheel and kinda feel around for the adjustment. My other gripe is that the GR+ Pro's come with the 9kg/7kg springs as well, the AL+Pro's did not. Other than those 2 things, I really do like these set of coilovers. If anyone has any questions about them, please feel free to message me.

I own GR+ Pro and love them. AL+ was not available when I bought mine. Just call Statnce. You will be surprised how nice they are to customers. They will give you all the answers you need. When I called them, a couple of guys were actually running GR+ Pros on their 240s, so they gave me some good info on settings, installation tips and stuff. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I just called them, very nice person I talked to, gave me a good comparison between the GR+ pros and AL+'s. First time I ever called a company directly about a product. After thinking about it, I got some more questions so will call back again Monday to resolve some other questions. But thanks to you for directing me to distributor and to Stance USA for the good info.

Sorry, should have posted up info to help future people out. Well, from what they told me they are exectly the same, the only difference is the strut body is alum vs steel. Same valving, same spring rates, just the difference in strut body material. So becuase its alum, they are lighter, they don't rust and was some other reasons but I can not recall what they are.

GR+ pro = steel strut body $1,200AL+ = Alum strut body $1,400

(Prices found from 240sxmotoring.com)

One thing I did not ask was the difference between the GR+'s and the GR+ pro's ( I think it is only the helper springs).

I personally think I am going to go with the AL+'s just becuase if I am going to spend this much money on parts, might as well go all the way.

Good to hear this. Yeah, I'd go all the way and get AL+. My car is heavier than other s13s, so I would have bought AL+ if it was available back then. My GR+ Pro is so nice and sometimes I forget that I have coilovers on my car. But I soon realize I have them when I make hard turn. I run 8/6 springs.

Helper springs are supposed to smooth out the rear end. I have them, but I've never driven GR+, so I can't tell the difference between GR+ and GR+ Pro. Anyway, my rear end is not bouncy at all that I can say.

reason why the adjustment for the front is on the bottom of the shock is becuae its inverted monotube design. newer and better i think.
